Yes, A Really Good Book

The day was still young and the newly fallen angel, Cielo, had been assigned a very simple task: find a monk. And tempt the monk. If this was successful, Cielo was to report back to Hell and then matters regarding how to continue to ruin the man’s previously virtuous life would be discussed.

Cielo was not sure how successful she would be.

She was still slightly uncertain if falling so long after the Great Rebellion of Angels was wise. However, after Cielo briefly wondered if God’s treatment of humans was indeed fair for the second time in her immortal life, the decision was made for her. As she plummeted from the sky, her beautiful angelic body transformed into a grotesque shape. Cielo grew horns and fangs and her skin turned scaly and green.

But the horrors of that transformation were neither here nor there.

She had to prove to Hell she was not a double agent and she could indeed tempt a human soul into sin. If her efforts were not satisfactory, Cielo would be sent to Purgatory until she could “get her act together and decide if she wanted to be a proper demon or a failed pathetic attempt at an angel.”

Cielo had protested to her new demonic superior that she did not find the choices available to her fair. The supervisor had grinned with Its many teeth from the three mouths on Its body (face, belly, and left knee).

“Well, clearly you do not have what it takes to be a fucking Angel.”

The harsh language had made Cielo bristle.

The demonic superior laughed. “You’re gonna have to get fucking used to it, pet.”

Now Cielo found herself manifesting into a monk’s room. It was after the monastery’s mid-day meal in which time was dedicated for a short nap. Not all monastics slept of course. It was free time to relax and contemplate the glory of God. Not that monks or nuns actually spent their time doing so.

The monk could not see her at first. Cielo preferred it this way. As an angel, occasionally she had the privilege of announcing things to humans and the occasional non-human. When appearing, it was always best to wait and assess the scenario before rushing into things. She shifted from a demonic monster into a very pretty nun. Cielo was not quite used to her new body. She would manage. She had no choice.

The monk, Brother Gunter, lay on his bed reading a book. He was young. Twenty-two. Brother Gunter’s feet dangled off the bed as he read. His neat tonsured orange hair lay perfectly still against the pillow as his severe brown eyes scanned the page. Cielo sensed Brother Gunter did not actually want to be a monk. He wanted to be a soldier. She also sensed that he had never slept with a woman before.

As an angel, Cielo could take one look at a being and sense many, many things about them. She may not interpret what exactly the being was thinking or would do, but her God-given angelic sense allowed her to predict things fairly accurately. Cielo was unused to the demonic sense. It was similar to her angelic sense, yet murkier somehow.

Perhaps it was the result of not quite being comfortable in her new body.

Cielo revealed herself.

“Man was not meant to live alone, Brother Gunter,” she said.

Brother Gunter slowly looked around his book.

Cielo thrust out her clothed bosom.

Brother Gunter rolled his eyes and went back to reading. “Go away, Demon.”

“How do you know that I’m a demon? I’m a nun!”

“You’re not a nun. There’s no nunnery for miles.”

“I’m not a demon.”

“You have yellow eyes. And you lie.”

Cielo was not quite sure what to do. Brother Gunter flipped a page. His foot tapped against the floor. Cielo stared at him. She sensed through the murkiness Brother Gunter had some secrets, but all that came up was the tap, tap, tapping of his feet on the wooden floor.

“You’ve never seen a woman naked before. I could change that.”

Brother Gunter sighed. “I have an hour each day of uninterrupted alone time in this God forsaken monastery. I am trying to read.”

“Are…are you more into men?”

“No! Go away!”

Cielo took off the nun’s veil. “What about now?”

Brother Gunter put down his book and sat up. Cielo grinned. He reached for a wooden cup on his bedside table.

“I knew you’d –GAH!”

The monk had thrown holy water on her. Cielo’s skin burned and flaked and smoked with agony. Burns by holy water was not something she had ever experienced before and hoped never to experience again. She scrambled to wipe it off with her hands. They sizzled.

“Stop screaming.” Brother Gunter held up the cross he wore around his neck. “By the power of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I command you to stop screaming.”

Cielo’s mouth involuntarily ceased all noise. She bounced up and down on the balls of her feet for a moment in a sad attempt to transfer some pain she could no longer express by screaming. If anything, that simply made the burning worse. Holy water soaked into Cielo’s spurious nun’s habit and onto her torso. The pain wasn’t as bad as direct holy water against her skin. However, even if it wasn’t as bad, it was not something Cielo wanted on her.

She grabbed Brother Gunter’s spare black habit hanging from the lone hook on the wall and wiped the holy water off the best she could. It still burned. Desperate to stop the fleshy pain, Cielo threw off the nun’s habit. She had never been naked like this before. The new face on her belly grimaced as the light hit Its eyes. The fact that her abdomen face still remained while in human form had been a surprise. As an angel, she could transform into a full human form. Also having only four eyes was very limiting.

Brother Gunter’s face remained neutral while she groaned and eventually succeeded in wiping most of the holy water off.

“What…what about now? Wanna sleep with me now?” Her demonic voice was reduced to a pathetic human whine.

Brother Gunter looked around for more water.

“Okay, okay!” She scrambled to take off the nun shoes. Holy water dripped into them and her feet smoked and cracked. “Please don’t!”

“Why shouldn’t I? You won’t leave me alone.”

Cielo knew she could explain about falling and Hell and the threats of Purgatory, but that all seemed quite pathetic and sad. Brother Gunter would probably sympathize seeing as he too did not want to give his life to God. Cielo’s angelic mind set of Godly dignity before everything had not quite left her. Well, at least it still did not permit her to admit her shame. Cielo also did not want to return to Hell without properly tempting her target.

“I’ll…I’ll let you do anything to me.”

Brother Gunter looked Cielo up and down. He swallowed. “Anything?”

“Yeah. Anything.”

The monk’s eyes remained on the floor. “...Can I kiss your feet?”

Cielo appeared back in Hell before her new superior.

“How did it go, newbie?”

“Just send me to fucking Purgatory. Please don’t make me do this.”

The demon grinned. “You swore. I think you’ll eventually fucking like it here. Now go pick up a spear and stab some sinners.”
